July 31 - August 5, 2005

NashCamp Song Writing Week is Nashville's premier song writing camp, staffed by Nashville's hit songwriters and Music Row professionals, offering an eclectic combination of industry seminars and special guest workshops and concerts.  Campers rotate daily among teachers, offering a variety in song writing techniques.

NashCamp offers melody composition, lyric writing, and critiques by Nashville hit songwriters.  Guest speakers include reps from performing rights organizations and other songwriter advocacy groups.

New this year - NashCamp adds heavy hitter bluegrass writers Claire Lynch, Tim Stafford and Carl Jackson to our stellar list of country and pop writers. See songwriting teachers for a complete faculty list.

"NashCamp really gave my song writing career a kick start.  Where else would I get a chance to perform at the Bluebird Cafe in a song circle with the finest writers in Nashville..."

Network in the song writing industry!  There is an emphasis on the world of commercial writing and every effort is made to have your song heard and critiqued by someone deeply involved in the "Nashville machinery". This year, campers will participate in a "Pitch Your Song" session, where they will have the opportunity to play their song for publishers, producers, and recording artists.

NashCamp offers three levels of song writing classes:  Intro To Song Writing for those who have not yet attended one of our sessions, Intermediate NashCamp for those who have taken the Intro class and are looking to enhance their songcraft; Advanced NashCamp, for those who have already attended two sessions and want to expand their contacts in the music business.

The highlight of Song Writing Week is the camper concert at the world famous song writing showcase club, The Bluebird Cafe.

A scholarship fund has been set up in memory of our dear friend and NashCamp teacher, John Jarrard.  John passed away on February 1, 2001.  Those interested in applying for scholarships should contact the NashCamp office.  Many thanks to Janet Jarrard and to the Georgia Music Industry Association.

"At NashCamp, I learned more about song writing in three days than I had in three years."

"The days were so organized, but still very relaxed."

"I learned several new ways to think musically, but more importantly, I got my musical drive back."
